Born with a Capricorn Sun under an Aquarius Moon, Salman Khan had Pisces rising at the 10:45 AM his biographer gives, 12 minutes after it began. Jasim Khan's 2015 biography Being Salman supplies the hour and Kalyanmal Nursing Home in its Indore chapter; the register wording the book quotes carries only the date, so the time rests on the biographer.
The leading feature needs no hour: Venus stood still within nine days of the birth. The Sun, at 5°14′ Capricorn, stays clear of every major aspect with the planets until the day's last minute.

What a wrong minute would and would not disturb
Of eight ranked features, five fit any minute of that Monday: the Venus station, the partnerless Mars, and the Mercury and Jupiter detriments and the reception linking them. The other three lean on the clock: the partnerless Sun only in the day's last minute, while Mercury by the Midheaven and the crowd above the horizon hang on the biographer's 10:45 AM.
A biographer's hour versus a horoscope anthology's
The hour stands as a time printed in a biography, not copied from a record. The book's photograph of the register is unreadable in the Google Books scan; an hour legible there would tie the time to the register itself. Indore kept Indian Standard Time, UTC+5:30, with no seasonal shift that December.
AstroSage lists 2:30 PM, citing Kundli Sangraha (Tendulkar), a horoscope compilation we could not consult, leaving the figure untraced. That hour keeps the Moon in Aquarius but lifts 16°12′ Taurus onto the Ascendant and moves all ten planets to different houses.
Indore's eastern horizon showed Pisces from 10:32 AM until 12:04 PM; 13 minutes earlier, Aquarius takes over. A boundary that near, inside 20 minutes, marks about 34% of 1960s charts. Houses are touchier: a clock running 4 minutes fast would put the Sun in the 11th house, and one 4 minutes slow would send Mars there too.

|---|---|
| How sure the time is | From a biography: 10:45 AM |
| Rodden rating (our assessment) | B: from a biography or autobiography |
| Basis for that assessment | The hour comes from a named biography, Jasim Khan's Being Salman (2015), which gives 10.45 a.m. and the nursing home, and goes on to quote the nursing-home register; the register wording it quotes gives only the date, and its photograph of the register cannot be read even at the largest size Google Books serves, so the hour rests on the biographer's statement and is graded B, not AA. |
| Where the time comes from | Jasim Khan's biography Being Salman opens its chapter on Indore by saying he was born at 10.45 a.m. on 27 December 1965 in Kalyanmal Nursing Home, Indore. It then says the superintendent, Dr Neelesh Dalal, showed the author the register entry, quoted as recording a male child born on that date, with no hour. |

Venus nearly stationary, Mercury minutes short of the Midheaven
Venus, at 12°05′ Aquarius in the 12th house, had slowed to 0°21′ a day, its retrograde station no more than nine days off, timing shared by about one chart in 14 from the 1960s. Modern astrologers stress a planet this slow; older texts often read a station before retrograde motion as weakening.
Mercury, 2°31′ ahead of the Midheaven in the 10th house, had yet to culminate and would have reached the angle within 11 minutes; the decade's sample puts Mercury that close, inside three degrees, in about one chart in 15.

Neither the Sun nor Mars has a planetary aspect
Of the 13 major aspects, the Sun has one, a sextile to the Ascendant, with Jupiter 10°11′ short of an opposition; about one chart in 17 share that isolation from the planets. Mars has none: Venus sits 8°58′ away, just past the conjunction orb, and about one chart in 16 have a Mars without planetary aspects.
By declination the Sun and Jupiter do meet, one 23°20′ south, the other 22°59′ north: a contraparallel, treated by some as an opposition in all but name. No planet exceeds the Sun's declination limit, the test for out of bounds.

Jupiter, the lone handle of a bucket
Strip out Jupiter and the rest fit in 173°36′, Pluto round to Saturn; alone opposite them, Jupiter forms the handle. Marc Edmund Jones named this layout the bucket, and his followers treat the handle planet as the outlet. The horizon leaves eight planets above and two below, a tilt the sample matches in about one chart in 8. By element air leads; by mode the Sun alone is cardinal.

Saturn tops a day chart while Mercury and Jupiter trade signs
The Sun, 37°38′ above Indore's horizon, makes this a day chart; Saturn, angular in the 1st house and in sect, heads the dignity ranking at 69. Mercury and Jupiter each hold detriment in the other's sign (about one chart in 6 and about one chart in 5), a swap William Lilly scored as mutual reception, offsetting each detriment.

Muhammad Ali and Denzel Washington share both lights
Muhammad Ali and Denzel Washington come closest, each with a Capricorn Sun and Aquarius Moon; Washington's Sun is within a degree of this one. Jeff Bezos shares the Sun sign; Shah Rukh Khan, the Moon sign and a Saturn within two degrees. No one in the databank was born that day.
Lahiri places the Moon in Capricorn's final degree
Lahiri's ayanamsa of 23°22′ sends every planet but Jupiter back one sign, the Sun into Sagittarius, the rising degree into Aquarius. The Moon, at 29°41′ Capricorn, reached sidereal Aquarius about 37 minutes after the recorded time, so the Vedic Moon sign, Makara or Kumbha, turns on the hour; 2:30 PM gives Kumbha.

Saturn's return took three crossings
Saturn's first return took three touches: June 3, 1994, a retrograde recrossing on July 13, 1994, and the decisive direct crossing on February 9, 1995. The second, March 18, 2024, needed one. Jupiter's tally of returns stands at five, the latest on May 18, 2025.

Questions about Salman Khan’s birth chart
What is Salman Khan's zodiac sign?
Capricorn. On that Monday the Sun lay at 5°14′ Capricorn, early in the sign, and stayed there all day, so the hour makes no difference. In the Lahiri zodiac most Indian astrologers use, the Sun is Sagittarius.
What is Salman Khan's Moon sign?
Aquarius, whichever minute he was born: the Moon entered it on December 25, 1965 and left at 12:47 AM on December 28, 1965. In Lahiri's zodiac it sits at 29°41′ Capricorn, Makara at the recorded hour, Kumbha a birth 38 minutes later.
What is Salman Khan's rising sign?
Pisces at the biography's 10:45 AM, though narrowly: Pisces began rising 12 minutes before it, so a birth 13 minutes sooner gives Aquarius. Pisces kept rising until 12:04 PM. The rival 2:30 PM gives Taurus rising.
Is Salman Khan's chart diurnal or nocturnal?
Diurnal, comfortably. The Sun rose over Indore at 7:05 AM, 3 hours 40 minutes ahead of the biography's time, and set at 5:49 PM, so the 2:30 PM alternative is diurnal too. In Hellenistic terms, Jupiter is then the benefic of sect and Mars the malefic out of it.
Neptune or Jupiter: which planet rules Salman Khan's chart?
There are two answers, by scheme. Modern practice hands Pisces to Neptune (21°17′ Scorpio, 9th house), direct and fast for its kind; the traditional scheme hands it to Jupiter (25°03′ Gemini, 4th house), retrograde, in detriment and the bucket's handle.
Where the numbers on this page come from
Every degree comes from precise astronomical calculations, good to the arc-second, for the nursing home's OpenStreetMap coordinates. Each share is how often a feature appears among simulated 1960s births at random days and hours, in cities weighted toward larger populations.
