What Is Firdaria?

Firdaria is a planetary period system from medieval Persian astrology that divides life into chapters ruled by each of the seven traditional planets plus the lunar nodes.

The total cycle is 75 years: Sun (10), Venus (8), Mercury (13), Moon (9), Saturn (11), Jupiter (12), Mars (7), North Node (3), South Node (2). For night charts, the sequence starts with the Moon instead of the Sun.

Each major period is subdivided into 7 sub-periods following the same Chaldean order, starting from the major ruler. This creates a nuanced timing system that describes the general tone of each life phase and its internal shifts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Firdaria?

Firdaria is a Persian/medieval timing technique dividing life into planetary periods. Each planet rules a chapter for a set number of years, coloring the themes and events of that life phase. The total cycle is 75 years.

How does sect affect the order?

Day charts (Sun above horizon at birth) start with the Sun period. Night charts start with the Moon. This means the same person born 12 hours later would experience their life chapters in a completely different order.

What are the sub-periods?

Each major period subdivides into 7 equal sub-periods, one for each traditional planet. The sequence starts from the major ruler and follows the Chaldean order (Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars).
