♉︎April 20 – May 20· Next season begins April 20, 2027 at 07:18 UTC
Taurus, Slow and Certain
Venus rules it and the Moon is exalted in it, which explains both the appetite for pleasure and the calm. Taurus is the fixed point of spring, and it does not like to be hurried.
What Fixed Earth Feels Like From the Inside
Taurus is the one who actually finishes what they start. The reputation for stubbornness is really loyalty to a decision already made. As a fixed earth sign, they are the zodiac's most reliable presence: when a Taurus says they'll be there, they'll be there.
Fixed signs sit in the middle of each season, when the weather has settled into itself. Taurus falls in late spring, after the burst of Aries, when the growth has taken and the work is to tend it. The sign's whole outlook follows from that position: things worth having take time, and the fastest way to lose something is to keep pulling it up to check the roots.
The tradeoff is flexibility, or rather its absence. Change has to prove itself to a Taurus before they will entertain it, and even then they will take their time.
Venus Through the Senses
Venus rules two signs and behaves differently in each. In Libra she is social, aesthetic and diplomatic. In Taurus she is physical: texture, taste, music, comfort, the weight of a well-made object in the hand. A Taurus notices the thread count, remembers the wine from three years ago, and will walk an extra twenty minutes for the good coffee.
This is not shallow materialism. It is a conviction that the physical world is where life actually happens, and that attention to it is a form of respect. Taurus is often the person who makes a space feel lived-in and a meal feel like an occasion.
Money sits naturally in this picture. Taurus tends to understand value in a concrete way, saves without being told to, and gets anxious when resources feel insecure. Generosity, when it comes, is practical: a meal, a loan, a place to stay.

The Moon's Exaltation and the Three Decans of Taurus
Taurus is divided into five Egyptian terms and three decans. Venus holds the opening term, so the Moon's exaltation at 3° sits in the sign ruler's own bound, one reason the early degrees are read as especially settled.
The Chaldean faces run Mercury, Moon and Saturn. Modern astrologers who use triplicity rulers assign the decans to Venus, Mercury and Saturn instead, the rulers of the three earth signs.
0°–10° Taurus
☿︎ Mercury face · Venus (modern) · from Apr 20
The opening decan holds the Moon's exaltation at 3° inside Venus' own term, which makes it Taurus at its most settled and sensory. The Chaldean face goes to Mercury, adding a practical intelligence: a knack for pricing, trading and making things work.
10°–20° Taurus
☽︎ Moon face · Mercury (modern) · from Apr 30
The Moon rules the middle decan by face. Steadiness takes on a protective, emotional tone here, with deep attachment to home, land and family. Jupiter's term from 14° to 22° adds generosity, and a habit of showing love by providing.
20°–30° Taurus
♄︎ Saturn face · Saturn (modern) · from May 10
Saturn rules the last decan, and the closing terms belong to Saturn and Mars. This is the most disciplined and most immovable stretch of Taurus. Algol, the Medusa's-head star, sits near 26°, which older texts read as intensity under pressure.
Why the Moon Is Exalted Here
The Moon reaches its exaltation at 3° Taurus. Ptolemy's explanation was astronomical: after meeting the Sun in Aries, the Sun's own exaltation, the Moon first shows its returning light in the next sign. Later astrologers read it psychologically. The Moon stands for the body's needs and the feeling of safety, and Taurus is the sign most at home in the body.
That is why Taurus calms people. It does not rush to fix feelings or analyze them; it offers food, quiet and presence. The same quality makes the sign slow to process its own upsets, which tend to be stored rather than spoken until a threshold is crossed, at which point the Bull stops being patient all at once.
Who Taurus Builds With, and Who Unsettles It
Taurus pairs most easily with the other earth signs and with the water signs that a sextile connects it to. Its friction comes from the other fixed signs, each as unwilling to move as Taurus is.
Virgo and Capricorn· Trine (same element)
Virgo and Capricorn share Taurus' earth and its respect for things that work. Virgo brings method, Capricorn ambition, and Taurus the staying power that lets both pay off. These are steady pairings; their weak spot is a shared reluctance to try anything untested.
Cancer and Pisces· Sextile
Cancer and Pisces soften Taurus and are steadied by it. Cancer shares its love of home and food; Pisces brings an imagination Taurus enjoys but rarely generates. Both tend to make warm, loyal partnerships.
Taurus with Taurus· Same sign
Two Taurus partners build a comfortable life and rarely fight about money or routine. The risk is inertia: when both prefer the status quo, nobody pushes for the change the relationship eventually needs.
Scorpio· Opposite
Scorpio is fixed, loyal and possessive too, but interested in what lies beneath the surface rather than on it. Taurus asks what something is worth; Scorpio asks what it costs. The attraction is strong, and so are the power struggles.
Leo and Aquarius· Square
Leo and Aquarius are the other fixed signs, so every pairing is a contest of wills. Leo wants admiration Taurus gives only when earned; Aquarius wants change Taurus resists on principle. It works through respect for each other's immovability.
Libra and Sagittarius· Quincunx
Libra shares Taurus' ruler, Venus, but uses it socially where Taurus uses it physically, so they like the same things for different reasons. Sagittarius wants to roam when Taurus wants to stay. Both need deliberate compromise.

Uranus in Taurus, 2018–2026, and the Slow Planets Before It
Uranus entered Taurus on May 15, 2018, stepped back into Aries that November, and returned on March 6, 2019. It left for Gemini in July 2025, dipped back in from November, and made its final exit on April 26, 2026. Its previous pass ran from 1934 to 1942.
Uranus is the planet of disruption in a sign that prizes stability, and astrologers linked the transit to upheavals in money, food systems and the physical world. Next comes Saturn, from April 2028 to mid-2030, and then Neptune, in Taurus from 2038 to 2052.
| Planet | Previous visit | In Taurus now | Next visit |
|---|---|---|---|
| ♃︎ Jupiter | May 2023 – May 2024 | No | Apr 2035 – May 2036 |
| ♄︎ Saturn | Jun 1998 – Apr 2001 | No | Apr 2028 – Jun 2030 |
| ♅︎ Uranus | May 2018 – Apr 2026 | No | — |
| ♆︎ Neptune | — | No | May 2038 – May 2052 |
| ♇︎ Pluto | — | No | Jun 2095 – after 2100 |
Visits run from first entry to final exit, including retrograde dips back into the previous sign.
When Stubbornness Is the Right Call
Most of the time, refusing to budge is a strength. Taurus is hard to panic, hard to flatter and hard to talk into a bad deal. Relationships tend to be deep and long-lasting, partly because Taurus invests heavily and partly because they really do not want to start over.
The failure mode is staying too long: in the job that stopped growing, the friendship that turned one-sided, the routine that became a rut. Mars, the planet of necessary conflict, is in detriment in Taurus, so the sign often tolerates a bad situation well past the point where a fight would have helped. Mature Taurus learns to tell the difference between steadiness and inertia, and to move before the ground forces it.
Taurus Season Under the Stars of Aries
For roughly the first three weeks of tropical Taurus, the Sun crosses the constellation Aries. It reaches the stars of the Bull only in mid-May, around the time sidereal astrology starts Taurus.
The Bull's best-known stars have drifted out of the sign altogether. The Pleiades now sit just past 0° Gemini and Aldebaran near 10° Gemini. Algol, in the neighboring constellation Perseus, is the bright star that remains in tropical Taurus, near 26°.
The next tropical Taurus season runs Apr 20, 2027 to May 21, 2027. Over those days the Sun stands in front of Aries (Apr 20–May 14) and Taurus (May 15–May 21). Sidereal Taurus begins May 15.
When Taurus Season Starts: Exact Times, 1930–2040
Taurus begins when the Sun reaches 30° of ecliptic longitude, about a month after the March equinox. In UTC that moment falls on April 19 or 20, split almost evenly over recent decades.
If you were born on April 19, 20 or 21, the table settles it. Compare the time for your year with your birth time, converted to UTC or shown in your own timezone with the toggle.
Across 1930–2040, the earliest start was April 19, 2040 at 11:00 UTC and the latest was April 21, 1931 at 01:40 UTC.

Taurus, Answered
What are the Taurus dates?
Taurus runs from about April 19 or 20 to May 20 or 21, depending on the year and your timezone. The exact moment the Sun enters Taurus each year from 1930 to 2040 is listed in the table on this page.
Why is the Moon exalted in Taurus?
Tradition places the Moon's exaltation at 3° Taurus. Ptolemy explained it by the Moon first showing its light in Taurus after meeting the Sun in Aries; later astrologers connect it to Taurus' steadiness and comfort in the body, which suit the Moon's need for security.
What part of the body does Taurus rule?
In traditional medical astrology, Taurus rules the neck and throat. That is why the sign is often linked with the voice and with singers.
When was Uranus in Taurus?
Uranus was in Taurus from May 15, 2018 to April 26, 2026, apart from brief retrograde returns to Aries in late 2018 and early 2019 and a visit to Gemini from July to November 2025. The time before, Uranus spent 1934 to 1942 in the sign.
