Where each birth time comes from
A birth chart is only as good as the time it is cast for. Of the 10 chart pages here, 8 use a time from a birth record, the person or family, or a biography; 0 use a reported time whose source could not be traced; 2 have times that conflict; and 0 have no birth time at all. Every page opens with the signs, says how far its time settles each one, and casts every competing time in circulation. How these birth times are checked explains the standings and the margins.

Which famous birth times here come from a birth record?
Six of the 10 chart pages use a time from a birth certificate, a register or an announcement made at the time, among them Steve Jobs, Kim Kardashian and Donald Trump. Each page names the record and quotes it where a source does.
What does a disputed birth time mean for a chart?
That two or more times are in circulation and none has been traced to a record. The signs of the planets, and most aspects between them, change little in a day, so they usually hold at every candidate time; the rising sign, the Midheaven and the houses depend on which time is right. Each disputed page casts every candidate and lists what holds at all of them and what changes.
Why do some chart pages have no rising sign?
Because the rising sign changes about every two hours, it needs a birth time, and a page without one cannot give it. Those pages show the planets' signs for the whole birth date, which rising signs were possible hour by hour, and say when the Moon changed sign that day.
